Biocleaning, a major obstacle to the transmission of micro-organisms
Biocleaning is a cleaning method that aims to reduce the presence of microorganisms on floors and surfaces. This cleaning method reduces the risk of transmission between individuals by targeting reservoirs of microorganisms in the environment.
Like all methods, biocleaning has its own conditions. Here are some general principles:
- It is important to always start with the administrative rooms such as the offices, the waiting room, then the toilets, and finally finish with cleaning the treatment room. You should follow the idea of cleaning from the cleanest to the dirtiest.
- In your office, it is strongly advised not to place textile decoration such as curtains. This can become a significant source of microorganism reservoirs. It would be better to opt for surfaces that can be easily cleaned, that are smooth, seamless and non-porous.
- All maintenance equipment must also be thoroughly cleaned at least once a day.
Maintenance of premises
Each space in the Chiropodist-Podiatrist's office may receive microorganisms from visitors. We all have different offices and a very personal layout. Our surfaces, floors, equipment, are put to the test every day in the office. Here is a short guide for the maintenance of your chiropody-podiatry office:
Surface maintenance...
My Podologie recommends that you use a detergent product and a disinfectant product with virucidal action, such as Surfa'Safe from the Anios brand, or Bactopin Plus from the Le Vrai Professionnel brand.
This will involve soaking a single-use paper towel (such as Celtex brand intertwined hand towels) with detergent and then disinfectant, or a detergent/disinfectant to maintain the surface.
The detergent will act to dissolve visible dirt and the disinfectant will have the primary action of eliminating micro-organisms on surfaces, inhibiting the growth of germs and finally preventing them from recolonizing the treated space.
This type of cleaning may involve, for example, cleaning anything adjacent to surfaces near the sink and sterilization, the patient's chair or even door handles.
Floor maintenance...
For this type of maintenance, it is recommended to first carry out a classic sweep using a damp gauze and then use a detergent product appropriate to the type of floor you have in your office.
There are several types of floor washing, but in reality the reference technique remains the sculling technique. It can be summed up in a few steps:
- Get a trapeze broom and disposable gauze
- The broom must always remain in contact with the floor while cleaning and never go back
- Take dirt and dust to the door (use the Ruck Dustpan/Broom Set to dispose of the residue)
- Remove the gauze and throw it away
Once the macro-dirt has been removed, the floor must be cleaned using a detergent product.

- Proceed to wash the floor by printing a specific trajectory: Start by cleaning around the room, then reach the back of the room and finally cover the central surface of the floor of the office using the Godille technique, in order to return towards the door.
Maintenance of surfaces in contact with patients...
Our offices receive a lot of visits. Patients interact on many surfaces, which is why it is important to disinfect all equipment that has come into contact with them after each patient.

Real breeding grounds for bacteria, toilets are a space with a high risk of infection.
